JOB SUMMARY:
Tenure-track
Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Education.
The Department of Health Education houses undergraduate
and graduate programs leading to BS, MPH, DrPH and PhD degrees.
In these programs students are prepared both for public
health practice and research careers. The department has
a large and active research program in areas such as aging,
cancer, cardiovascular diseases, alcohol and drug abuse
prevention, school health, violence and injury prevention,
minority health and womens health. The department
is committed to teaching, to research and to service programs
that reach underserved communities, both in the US and internationally.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute
to the departments overall teaching, research and
service programs.
- Focus
on global health, policy, health communications and minority
health or community-level interventions.
- Teach
graduate-level courses.
- Advise
graduate students.
- Conduct
a research program in an area relevant to the practice
of health behavior and health education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skills:
A career
commitment to teaching, research and practice.
An interest
in reaching at-risk communities through strategies addressing
change at the individual, community, organization or social
policy level.
A promise
of scholarly contribution to the practice of health education.
A potential
to conduct funded research.
Experience:
Two
years of teaching experience at the college level.
Education:
An earned
doctorate in health behavior and public health education
or in a behavioral or social science discipline.
Certification by NCHEC Preferred
