HEALTH
EDUCATOR - WORKPLACE

JOB SUMMARY:
The
health educator works with a corporate team of physicians,
nurses, and exercise physiologists to design, develop and
implement workplace fitness and health promotion programs
in a large, multi-location, diversified company. Requires
ability to work with a minimum of supervision and excellent
interpersonal, writing and presentation skills.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist
in the identification of employee health education needs
through survey and health assessment activities.
- Assist
in planning, coordinating and implementing workplace fitness
and health promotion programs.
- Research,
review and interpret published literature on fitness,
back injury prevention, health promotion and disease prevention.
- Contribute
to training and program materials development in at least
three of the following content areas: back injury prevention,
fitness, nutrition, smoking cessation and stress management.
- Assist
in writing and editing press releases and articles for
in-house and external publications.
- Facilitate
collaboration between community health education resources
and the company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skills:
Working
knowledge of motivational strategies, materials development,
training and consultation required.
Ability
to plan, implement and evaluate employee disease prevention
and health promotion programs.
Thorough
knowledge and understanding of health behavior change.
Proven
administrative abilities, excellent interpersonal skills
and the ability to work in a team environment with a minimum
of supervision.
A high
energy level and excellent written and oral communication
skills are essential.
Experience:
Three
years experience in fitness and health promotion program
design, coordination and consultation.
Education:
Masters
degree in Health Education, Health Promotion or related
discipline.
Certification
Preferred:
CHES
preferred.
