Where do CHES® and MCHES® work?
You will find CHES® and MCHES® professionals in any number of positions and professions across the broad spectrum of health education. CHES® and MCHES® professionals work in a variety of fields ranging from local and state health departments to school settings to non-profit organizations. CHES® and MCHES® is not limited to a small section within the health education field.
“A lot of people think you’re just in the classroom but they don’t understand that we work in policy and systems change and community engagement and work with coalitions, and we work inter-professionally across various dimensions of social determinants of health,” says Rob Simmons, PhD and MCHES®.
The areas of work are vast under the umbrella of CHES® and MCHES®. For example, health education professionals can work on anything from healthy eating initiatives to patient resources for those struggling with a disease. This variety in work allows each professional to focus on topics they enjoy and are specialized in, along with using creative or technical skills. The CHES® and MCHES® certifications provide a consistent foundation for professionals throughout all forms of health education and build upon core competencies of the vast field.
