Health Communication Coordinator

General summary

Provides direction, planning, implementation, and evaluation of a culturally competent portfolio of communication strategies designed to prevent sexual violence, promote healthy behaviors and campus environments, and increase awareness of reporting and support resources.

Major duties

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates theory-informed and evidence-based health communication initiatives to reduce campus sexual assault.
  • Coordinates all aspects of a large-scale marketing and social media campaign, including message development and project management. Regularly monitors and updates website and social media accounts.
  • Supervises and evaluates a student employee. Provides concept direction and feedback to the student graphic designer.
  • Develops evaluation processes. Facilitates focus group research, pilot testing, and assessment for the social marketing campaign. Uses analytical tools to monitor traffic patterns and effectiveness of social media efforts.
  • Works closely with the grant team to meet project goals, performance measures, and reporting requirements. Prepares social marketing campaign evaluation reports for dissemination.
  • Builds relationships to collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to reach a wide variety of student sub-populations. Partners with student groups to lead efforts and engage their peers.
  • Learns and incorporates multicultural diversity and social justice concepts and principles into health promotion efforts.
  • Makes purchase and budget recommendations for effective social marketing and social media strategies.

Experience Required

Minimum qualifications Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job. Required education • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution. Required experience • One year of relevant experience. • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Desired qualifications Desired education • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution. Desired experience • Experience with social marketing in a professional context. • Supervisory or project management experience. • Experience with program evaluation. • Experience working in higher education. Desired other • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Physical requirements Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds. Working conditions Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
