National Health Education Week 2021: Recap and Resources

National Health Education Week is an annual event focused on increasing our nation’s awareness of major public health issues, and promoting a better understanding of the role of health education. This year, the week of October 18 - 22, 2021, was jammed packed with live events and new resources and highlights from certified health education specialists across the US. 

 

Careers in Health Education and Promotion Webinar

NCHEC’s marketing committee collaborated with SOPHE on a showcase event for NHEW that emphasized the value of certification in the field of Health Education and Promotion. The live event highlighted the career paths of four CHES® and MCHES® across differing career sectors, and provided resources for both students and practicing specialists in the promotion of their individual careers. 

CHES® and MCHES® can still receive one free CECH from viewing the recorded version which is available through SOPHE's CORE (use the code NHEWFREE to receive a free CHES®/MCHESv Continuing Education Contact Hour.)

CHES Exam Information Session

 

NCHEC also held a CHES® Exam information session on October 21st with over 130 attendees.  It can be accessed on NCHEC’s YouTube Channel and can be viewed or shared with students and/or colleagues. Topics included eligibility, the application process, deadlines, and options for test day, as well as a Q & A session with NCHEC's exam coordinator, Tanya Cole.

Webinar: Presenting Accessibly for an Online Audience

Featuring speakers Keyonda Smith, PhD, CHES®, a Digital Health and Accessibility Consultant and Dr. Kirsten C. Rodgers, EdD, MSPH, MCHES® a Consultant for Proximate Learning. Speakers introduced and guided participants in presenting online conference materials accessibly. CHES®/MCHES® CECH is available for this webinar.
