National Health Education Week: Recap and Resources

National Health Education Week is focused on increasing national awareness on major public health issues and promoting a better understanding of the role of health education. This year, the week of October 19 - 23, 2020, was jammed packed with events and new resources and highlights from health education specialists who have pivoted skillsets to tackle the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 


Emergency Response Webinar

NCHEC’s marketing committee collaborated with SOPHE on two webinars for NHEW.  The Emergency Management during the COVID-19 pandemic: Stories from the field webinar was held on October 20th which featured five outstanding CHES® and MCHES® from across the country and their work to protect their regions and communities from the devestating effects of COVID-19. Career Settings for Health Education Specialists

 A Snapshot of Health Education and Promotion Careers Settings webinar was held on October 23rd and featured four CHES® and MCHES® highlighting their roles at different practice settings.  Over 250 attended the live webinar.  Both webinars were not only well attended but highlighted the incredible work by many of our CHES® and MCHES®.  If you missed the NHEW webinars you can view them on SOPHE’s CORE site.\

CHES Exam Information Session

NCHEC also held a CHES Exam information session on October 21st with over 130 attendees.  It can be accessed oncNCHEC’s YouTube Channel and can be viewed or shared with students/colleagues.
