WHITEHALL, Pa. July 8, 2021 — The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC) has earned re-accreditation as a Personnel Certification Body by the International Accreditation Service (IAS). International accreditation provides a global benchmark for personnel certification programs to ensure consistent, comparable and reliable operations worldwide. The IAS accreditation program for Personnel Certification Bodies is founded on the ISO/IEC Standard 17024:2012 Conformity Assessment –– which provides general requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.
“Rigorous accreditation processes provide a high level of quality assurance to the public and other NCHEC stakeholders,” said Linda Lysoby, MPH, MCHES®, CAE, and Executive Director of NCHEC. “Reaccreditation as a Personnel Certification Body verifies that NCHEC’s policies and procedures comply with the highest international standards of practice for certifying agencies, and demonstrates that our organization is wholly dedicated to continuous improvement and to meeting the highest credentialing standards of practice for the health education and promotion profession.”
“We are delighted to provide accreditation to NCHEC, one of the most powerful health professional credentialing organizations in the United States,” said Mr. Osman Vural, IAS Personnel Certification Bodies Program Manager. “Personnel Certification Programs for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®) and Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES®) are now accredited and recognized to international standard ISO/IEC 17024. This is a significant achievement in the field of health education professional certification. We are confident that NCHEC will maintain its accreditation by demonstrating consistent performance over a long period of time.”
Established in 1988, NCHEC is the only accredited U.S. certifying agency for the health education and promotion industry. In addition to ISO 17024 accreditation, the CHES® and MCHES® programs maintain third-party accreditation from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
