NCHEC Achieves Re-Accreditation from the International Accreditation Service (IAS) and Celebrates “Culture of Quality”

"The ‘culture of quality’ which we observed in the organization is refreshing to see.” ~ David Nelson, Ph.D., P.E. and Lead Assessor, IAS

We are excited to announce that NCHEC has once again earned re-accreditation as a Personnel Certification Body by the International Accreditation Service (IAS). International accreditation provides a global benchmark for personnel certification programs to ensure consistent, comparable and reliable operations worldwide.

“The IAS rigorous accreditation processes provide a high level of quality assurance to the public and other NCHEC stakeholders.  This accreditation verifies that NCHEC’s policies and procedures comply with the highest international standards of practice for certifying agencies,” said Kathleen Allison, PhD, MCHES®, Chair of NCHEC Board of Commissioners. “This recognition demonstrates NCHEC’s spirit of continuous improvement and our commitment to meeting the highest credentialing standards of practice for the health education/promotion profession.”

In a message from David Nelson, Ph.D., P.E. and Lead Assessor for the IAS during the reaccreditation process, he wrote, “Please relay our compliments to all of the staff at NCHEC for their outstanding work, and for successful completion of these rigorous reassessment/renewal requirements.  The ‘culture of quality’ which we observed in the organization is refreshing to see.”

“We are very pleased with David’s words of encouragement and we will continue to strive for a culture of quality within this organization,” said Linda Lysoby, MS, MCHES®, CAE, and NCHEC Executive Director. “Having IAS accreditation to Standard 17024:2012 plus NCCA accreditation distinguishes our certification organization to health education and promotion specialists, their employers, and other stakeholders.”

The IAS accreditation program for Personnel Certification Bodies is based on ISO/IEC Standard 17024:2012 Conformity Assessment –– general requirements for bodies operating certification of persons. In addition to ISO 17024 accreditation, the CHES® and MCHES® programs maintain third-party accreditation from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
