NCHEC Announces Transition to a New Testing Vendor

October 31, 2022- Whitehall, PA.  The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC) the administrator of the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) and Master Certification Health Education Specialist (MCHES®) examinations announced a change to a new testing vendor. Starting with the April 2023 CHES® and MCHES® exam administrations, PSI will be used for test development and delivery.

“We are pleased to announce this new partnership with PSI, as NCHEC is always working on continuous improvement with the administration of the exams, customer service and the overall testing experience,” said Linda Lysoby, NCHEC Executive Director.  “PSI is an industry leader in test delivery, exam development, and psychometrics, therefore, their expertise will be valuable as we work to uphold the highest quality standards in health education certification.”

The switch to PSI will allow for an improved candidate experience as NCHEC has been working to ensure a seamless transition to the new vendor. PSI will allow candidates to schedule examinations from within the NCHEC user portal using a single sign-on, a feature that was previously unavailable.  NCHEC will continue to administer a high-quality examination experience that is in alignment with testing industry accreditation standards, including the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and the International Accreditation Service, (IAS). CHES® and MCHES® candidates will benefit from customer service and test locations both in the U.S. and internationally.  In addition, the option to choose live remote proctoring as a testing modality through PSI’s Bridge remote assessment platform is available to test at home in a secure environment.

“We are thrilled to be supporting NCHEC in delivering the highest quality standards in health education certification and help them take the next steps as they pursue their organization’s vision,” says Scott Hazlett, Vice President Certification, PSI.

NCHEC offers the only nationally and internationally accredited certification programs in the field of health education and promotion.   The voluntary certifications serve as a quality assurance mechanism for many employers.  Registration for the CHES® and MCHES® April 2023 examinations opens on November 1, 2022.
